I'm admittedly northwest Metro, but I resonate with the vision for this club! I've only been active in radio transmitting for a couple years, but I'm a long-time scanner guy. My boring backstory is on QRZ if you're curious. I am interested in using radio for serving the public, especially getting involved in EmComm, but haven't figured out how to get started. Yet.

@baboehrs hey Bruce! I'm going to be working in NE starting next week for the foreseeable future. Are you able to hit the Fridley or north Minneapolis repeater on GMRS? I'll keep an ear out for ya!
@wsjm792 I can hit it depending upon my mobile location. I'll try to throw my callsign out when I'm on Highway 10 or another high spot in Ramsey.
@baboehrs awesome, over here in St Paul 19 is the simplex channel, is it similar in the NW?
@wsjm792 I have to admit I don't transmit very often on GMRS nowadays, especially since repeater linking was shut down. I scan GMRS repeater channels frequently, and the only repeater activity I hear is the rare ragchew sessions on West Hennepin 550 and the West Hennepin SW 600 CW ID. I have tried simplex on Friday only once (channels 19 and 20 I think), and didn't hear any replies. Hopefully in the colder seasons ahead activity will pick up. I suppose I need to be more earnest in trying!
@baboehrs I have the 550 tuned into my radio but I can't seem to figure out the 600 Tx tone. I hear a couple guys on that repeater all the time.
I decoded the PL tones for West Hennepin 550, but haven't tried for West Hennepin SW 600. Either one or both are paid, and I just haven't explored it further. I am trying to decide if I'd use it before I paid for it.
